1. Pricing & Packaging Analysis
Objective: Understand how competitors price and package their products. Get real quotes, not website pricing.
What We Found
- Website pricing ≠ real pricing — Only CompressX and ZipBit show actual pricing online. DataStreamify, StreamGuard, and DataFlowPro require conversations to get quotes — and the initial quotes were 15-30% higher than what we negotiated to.
- Enterprise pricing is completely opaque — DataFlowPro required two calls AND an NDA before sharing pricing. StreamGuard's 'custom proposal' took 5 business days. This opacity is a sales tactic — it lets them anchor to your budget, not their cost.
- Feature bundling creates perceived value — Competitors don't sell compression alone. DataFlowPro bundles analytics, DataStreamify includes dedicated CSM, StreamGuard wraps in compliance consulting. Pied Piper's pure usage-based model feels 'bare' by comparison.

💡 Recommendation: Create 3 pricing tiers (Starter, Business, Enterprise) with bundled features. The technology is better — now package it better.

Discovery & Demo Quality
- DataStreamify — 45-min MEDDIC-style discovery. Fully customized 60-min demo with AE + SE. Best in class. Every question was anticipated.
- DataFlowPro — 30-min discovery with AE + SE. 75-min demo (too long — 15 min was unnecessary platform overview). Polished but template-driven.
- StreamGuard — 35-min compliance-focused discovery. 50-min demo, half was certification walkthroughs. Product demo was secondary.
- CompressX — 20-min casual chat with co-founder. 30-min live coding demo. Technically impressive but zero structure.
- ZipBit — No discovery. Self-serve trial. Sales rep reached out day 3 with a helpful in-app message.
3. Product & Technical Capabilities
Objective: See actual products in live demos. Evaluate compression performance, integrations, UX, and enterprise features.
